Started out at 6am to get to Northampton swap meet early for the bargains,
managed to get there for 9.30am and the place looked quite lively and there were
a few Rods and Trucks in the car park that took our attention us being Pudzz,
Steve and myself. Puddz though not a Rodder enjoys the scene and get to as many
events with me as he can while Steve was a Hot Rodding Virgin and I don't really
think he knew what to make of it all. Though he did purchase a few things for
his Car that he races up here on our local Oval track. We discussed trying to do
Doncaster Show aswell if we had time, I met a few of the guys from the uk-hotrods
e-mail group and had a good crack I bought some stuff and had a good sken round.
Geordie Paul told me some very sad news of one of his mates who helped him with
his Duksville business who had died from a massive brain haemorrhage and
asked if I would put a few words about him on the web site so we can all
remember him which I will do very soon *sad*.............. Had a good
crack wid Johnny Best who says he is having fun getting his 34 Coupe started but
hopes to have it done for Hemsby were all good Self respecting Rockabilly's should
be.
I was looking at a book stall and the guy next to me had two Ford truck books in his hand just what I was looking for and then I spied one he hadn't seen and reached for it and he beat me to that one aswell grrrrrrr hope ya enjoy em :>)
There were quite a few Trucks about for sale and a few Rods aswell I know of one that was sold not sure about any others.
I enjoyed meeting up
with quite a few people I have got to know trough doing this web site but my
mates were getting itchy feet and wanted to get going to Doncaster, though we
agreed on a beer first. I said I'd have one last look round while they went back
to the car.
It was this last look round when I bought most of my goodies, it is surprising what you miss with one quick look you need to go round at least twice I find. I think really most use this as an excuse just to meet up with mates and have a pre Rod Run season Natter. I found out some exciting news about debuting Rods for Drayton but I was sworn to secrecy miss it at your peril should be outstanding......... trust me :>)
There were some cool looking rides both round the track and out in the Car park so took a few shots then we got on our way to Donny.
Ray Bolts Gorgeous 38 Ford Truck was my personal favourite
Big Lou's daily 32 5 Winda with a Ford 390 Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
59 El Camino was my Mate Steve's pick of the crop.
Groovy Red Fordson
With the Swap meet fresh in our minds it was-
