Doncaster Blaster

What a contrast though  to be fair this is a show and the swap meet was a rodders car booty. But you couldnt help but be amazed at how many people where crammed into Doncaster race course. I was probably the oldest person there it was wick with young people. My Brother had gone to Donny earlier in the morning with all the local Joy Boys who his young son knocks about with and he kept texting me when I was at the Swap meet saying he had never seen so many Fit Birds in one place ever :>) Boy was that true............. But I am getting ahead of my self here.

The first thing that you are greeted with as you enter the Donny event is the indoor Rod showcase, this is our chance to show of our style of cars to the younger generation the Joy Boy crowd the Modern Motor Lovers the Mass's call em what ya like but the Car loving majority they are all there and spending money like there is no tomorrow. The quality of the Rods on show was staggering even to us who have seen Rods a plenty, my mate Steve who had only ever seen my Rod was blown away and was gob smacked at the work and workmanship that the assembled Rods exude. There were quite a few Rods I had never seen before and a few I had. Though  the 22 or so Rods there looked fantastic this is a missed opportunity for us to promote our Lifestyle/obsession to a far bigger audience than we could imagine. There were a few looking round the Rods but not as many as I would of liked. For us to make a bigger impact we would need to fill the Hall with all styles of our genre, but then again do we want to encourage the type of people who go to these type of shows?? I'm not sure maybe I am to old now to want to share my great Hobby with wild young ones.?
Either way you gotta admire their enthusiasm for their thing, Music was pumping loud from every corner of the Race course and beautiful young things where everywhere you looked and some very dodgy characters I would not be happy leaving my unattended Rod around know what I mean!

Oh Boy is it me or are these the two most perfect Botty's you have ever seen Jeez its great being a dirty old man as you appreciate such fine things more I reckon :>)
Any how more about our side of Donny show, My brother took all the photos of the Rods as I originally didn't intend going. I have yet to scan them so may be a few days yet before they are on here.

Apparently this is the latest thing?????

Ahhh thats better Mike Key lets his misses put the roof together while he had a natter he must of seen me with the camera cus as I took this photo he made it look like he was helping ;>). This is the engine bay of one superb Hand made all ally 32, put together by Tim Hammond Just simply exquisite.

This is the superbly constructed 32? mentioned above with bits of 27T I think incorporated into the overall design just amazing all hand built all ally what a talent.

Groovy 33 Chevy I think :>) and new to me gorgeous oh so black 34 Yes please!

Keith Atkinson's fantastic Best in Britain 32 Highboy look no fenders.

Martin Nortcliffe's 39 Chevy. This is just so complete a Rod as you can imagine. From the mile deep paint to the perfect interior & engine. I could go on and on, see Wakefield Cruise report for more on this Beautiful 39 Chevy.

.
I recognize the Red 32 on the left, it was looking very good just be redone by the look Other I am not sure if I have seen this before or if it was fresh out

Rutherford Brothers 34 still looking Fantastic I did hear Rod Magnet Graham Shaw owns it now but I am not 100% sure on that. It was great to see it again it is a superb Rod and is wearing very well. Funny it was looking at an old photo of this very 34 that made me decide to paint my grill insert body colour now I see it again it is back to plain Aluminium as mine WAS Terrrrrrr!

Ian Burtons Hi-Tec and mind blowing'ly perfect 34 Oh Yes it is just so right! Cool 48 Chevy Truck was also just so perfect all good enough to deserve the title of Best in Britain but it has to go to one Rod only how can you choose one to a winner over the rest???

This is one of those Rods that looks great parked up or moving the paint is just exquisite and what a colour makes this 35 stand out and is pure class for sure!

And just before we go outside smile please even dirty old men need love to ya know! Oh Baby you lot are car mad!

Saw these tow outside across the other side of the race course one a Chevy and the other a Bedford J could look good if done right mind you with the shape of the Chevy you don't need to try hard to get them to look Cool do you!

Parked outside was this Just flawless 57 along with a handful of Yanks. While across the other side of the Racecourse thousands thronged round the Modern interpretation of what a car is??
