Charlie and Irene from Scotland thought up one amazing idea for a rod Run
with Run being the optimum word, a reliability run to top all reliability runs
to the Isle Of Skye where even people who live in the highlands say its up
north!
I never made this Run though I will do the next one from all accounts it was the
best run they had ever been on great weather great people and fantastic scenery.
I will leave the rest of the write up's to the guys who actually made this epic
journey which I hope to have posted on here very soon. For now enjoy these
photos sent to me by Gerry Robb.
While I am awaiting a proper write up I will just add this
little gem sent into the ukhotrods e-mail group by Nessie:
Was it that good? Was it THAT good? "Let all Englishmen asleep
in their
beds this morning consider themselves acursed they were not here!"
Henry
the 10th, act four, part two! YES, It bloody well WAS that good! I
cannot
possibly put into words how much Moley and myself enjoyed it, and all praise
to Charlie and Irene for pulling of what will, I'm sure, pass into legend.
Highlights? Wel, as someone else said, imagine a hundred mile cruise,
where
at NO POINT was it broken up by mundanes. Imagine driving along the side
of
a valley, on a gently twisting single track road, and looking in your rear
view mirror, and seeing an unbroken line of rods and customs. And the sun
was shining on the righteous! Even the curious, intermittant misfire on
Moley's smallblock couldn't dampen things. (Which incidentally has now
totally vanished from whence it came.) And such friendly locals!
Anyone
passing on the old chestnut about the Scots being tight have not ever
experienced Scotish hospitality. I could go on forever, but the memories
are now starting to jar with the realisation that work looms tomorrow, and I
think I'm gonna cry!
Nessie.
