Hot Rod Drags (NSRA) Avon Park

It was a beautiful sunny day at Avon Park.
We passed Gary McCormack's suede 40's ford Pick up on the way down which was a good Omen for a great day!

Gary McCormack's perfect suede Pick - up with advert in the window for his Amazing Model A pick-up for sale at £20K ...... guess it will have to be a lottery win for me! Up date A Bone is not for Sale and 39 Pick up is at £9K last I heard somebody was very interested and it probably will have a new owner by now. I wish I had waited as I would of bought this Beauty. but Gary may not of appreciated my changing of the red steels for 20" Billets and the suede paint job for a show mint Green and smoked lower half eh!! ;>)

This 34 was supercharged and looked fantastic the owner found it stuck in the back of a garage covered in filler dust with a price tag of £5K what a find!! I was actually taking a picture of the Babe when the car got in the way!
Jeez you lot are car mad!

I do like my 34's and this was just perfect what attention to detail, they look so finished with bumpers  rootlieb hoods, hood ornaments, chrome grill etc etc... Now this I like! Not a UK rod  from Germany I think!

Yum Yum, 36 ford?  this was one finished Rod owned by Andy House from Somerset. It Just oozes class I can feel another year of saving coming on!!!

Never thought a 37 sedan could look so good! Owner told me to not wind his Yorkshire terriers up as one was particularly vicious ;>)  Hu! Ber! I'm scared..... Yorkshire bl**dy terriers still he had a good taste in cars!

Yeeha!!!  the guys who build 40's Willy's coupes always seem to put monster engines in them and this was no exception!  from Bristol where many a fine Rod a Drag  car comes from.

Camera threw an epee and only took a small photo of this superb F100 with full Corvette chassis and running gear 350TPI and 700R4 trans to boot and 17" wheels hooray...  Guy was very friendly and opened his flip front and had a good crack with us.... nice truck, nice guy! Crap photo!

Oooh Boy!!!!  tunnel rammed big block..... serious. another friendly guy who pushed the coupe out for us to take a better photo of it... I said I thought you were going to start it? he said it is hard work so he couldn't be Rsed! Since bin told he wishes he had been rsed now and fired it up for us ;>) to late now Skippy..... Ace Rod..

Very Nice Fordson Van for sale aswell  very well pieced together stood perfect but to much of the Fatties and Thinnies for me!! shame as I doo like Fordson 's ever since I first clapped eyes on John Boldachino's Hot & Bothered many many years ago... I wonder were that is now? Update I was informed by Rich Gray (Ex Gasser Editor) that Hot 'n' Bothered is alive and well and cruising in Devon owned by a guy called Jonathan Hebeler I have seen a photo of it now painted Red and looking as good as ever which is great to hear,

Don't know what this Model A was running but was it rapid up the 1/4 mile... Always ran side by side to a yellow Model A sedan which was a lovely sight for any Rodder!  red lead seemed to by in vogue aswell. I guess it stops fiberglass rusting...;>)
I have just been told this well put together Model A belongs to Graham Young and runs a  SBF. And the yellow one mentioned belongs to his Brothers and runs a Rover V8 now how cool is that!

All this Fun! and we had no idea about the fuel problem until we got home to Cumbria. We were 15 miles from home and as we rounded a bend the car spluttered....... we were running out of fuel. No worries we thought there is a garage 2 miles away  wha wha wrong.... the crazy people of Cumbria had wiped the garage out not a single drop of fuel. We managed to struggle home to see a massive queue at the local 24hr Garage. That was when it dawned on us there was a big problem... but we made it home on fumes which is all that mattered. Nothing could knock the smile of our faces after such a Fantastic day.
