Neil's Springnats

It's Page 3 Girls!

*Yawn* awwhhhh!! Sunday already? Man do I just stick the 34 on the show field as is? Or do I do an hour or so of cleaning and polishin? *Hum?* the dilemma.......... *Yawn* sod it I'll have some more shut eye...zzzzzzzzzzz The Miss's is all wide awake today and the smell of cooking bacon wakes me... Might aswell get up now...... but I aint cleaning the car. After being fed and watered I decide to take the car over to the show field just to show willing and thought I'll hide it in a corner out of the way.

Me and Jason come out of the camp site to be greeted by a line of Rods and Yanks etc all waiting to get on the show field aswell.. *Hey* some nice stuff arriving today it seemed and look at the gets all nice and shiny :>) The bigger field was pretty much water logged. So we were having to use the smaller one, that has the high fence round it. How the show filed had been  filled meant that me and Jase were plonked right on the front row just like we had power parked Ha Ha that'll teach me to not get the polish out, it was to late now, so it was staying kaked up.

We had decided that young Jason's car would look best if he lifted the flip front up to show his V12 motor for the day, so that's what he did and he had a crowd looking in most of the day which was great for him.

The cars were still coming in, as I got to the gates Nige Stephenson and his Bro Mike were just coming in. Nige in his so damn cool 32 and Mike in a two tone, horny 55. The show field was filled to capacity soon with many cars looking like they were sinking into the boggy ground. Gonna be some fun tonight I thought when everyone was trying to get off the muddy ground.

I had last night and Friday night been talking to a very talented young guy called Chris Bunting, www.hotrodart.co.uk he has an amazing artistic talent. I had asked him to put a name on the back of my 34 alla the 70's & 80's when Cars all head names.. I had come up with the name "So Solid Blue" for mine a play on the group name So Solid Crew,

Yep I am a numpty I know but I just thought it would work and read Ok. I tried to find his stall but he was no where to be seen. I saw him later but the car was parked Kak up and so we agreed maybe another day. Still it gives me time to decide if it is the right thing to do or not. My thinking is once you name a car then it has an identity, like Revenge is never called Nick Butlers C cab is it, it's always called by its name Revenge! So the stigma of buying someone else's car has gone you are actually buying the Car.. And I do not intend keeping the 34 for ever as I have to sell it to get the F100 done.. so with a tear in my eye I will have to be selling it soon so hence the name thing ! Now where was I?

We went back had a coffee or three then all of us wife's and kids everyone went for a look at the assembled rods. Saw this really neat Austin above, another shot of Nige Stephenson's from Blackpool's perfect 32, and proof that one high end southern Top Rod at least bothered his arse to bring his succulent Willys Pro Steeter to Neil's Springnats *Nice one* Oh and not be frightened of parking on the boggy grass, oh and not rope it off *respect*

. The numbers were definitely down on previous years, which was a major disappointment as I was hoping to blow Jason's socks of, with the shear quality and quantity of the Rods there are in the Uk Scene. Give him some insight into what he needs to do to his Consul to get it up to scratch or at least give him some ideas as to how and what he can do to his. We did the full tour trade stands and all, the kids now wanted to go into the Theme Park again so that's what they did, while we went and dismantled camp. Again they tried to charge more for the kids to get in, but Pudzz got em sorted "I paid nine quid each for these two yesterday and that's what I am  paying today" them sorted we downed camp, well most of it anyway.

Heard gang of young kids go "Corrrr" it was a stunning Blue Buick Riviera.. then they all went "urghhhhh" as Kev Elliot passed by in his wife's 50's Chevy right behind, it absolutely cracked me up Kids dont mind letting ya know what they think.... I have had em actually stand and point and laugh at me in my F100 and I think I look damn cool in it?? Hey ho eh!

I said I would like another last look round the cars, so went on my own this time. That dammed 50's crap was playing again arghhhhh someone has got to do something about that, ya know the topic of conversation with just about everyone I met over the weekend was the music. All agreed the be bop a loola days just have gone Man, move on fer crisakes.. pleeeeeseee! S'Funny young Jase said he didn't mind it maybe cus he hasn't heard it much, me I have heard it for the last 40 odd years so maybe it is me that it grates on so.. I heard a CD that may be ok for a Rod Run "Just Great Songs" Capitol Gold, seemed like it was a good collection of rock tunes that would move us some way forward, if not into the modern world where I like to be :>) But its a start what ya reckon?

A Sedan again with the Turboed Northstar Caddy motor these engines are mega cool they run on less cylinders once cruising.

Nice line up  39 Ford Truck still looks awesome

Pass mouse over photo for rear view of the Phone Booth T or is it a Dr's Coupe? Hey what do I know.

After my last look, I went back to get the caravan loaded and get ready for the trip home to Cumbria. I hate it when it is time to go, but real live does go on. The weather looked good for the journey the rain had held off and we were soon ready for the off. We did the mandatory excursion down a few wrong roads then got on track and where home without incident in 3 1/2hrs. One thing made me chuckle a young Dude in a Min Bin gave me that sign ya know the one where you clench ya fist then extend ya thumb and little finger Ha Ha Right on Dude!!!

And the Winner's Are here they line up. Red one I know but cant remember the guys name I saw it when I did the ESRA run to Blegium but that was a couple a years back, Nigel Stephenson's black 32, Phil Middleton's Chevy Truck and Thingy's Awesome Willy's I spy the others I am sorry my memory I will find out and get them on soon Honest.... come on I never did say I was an expert just a Numpty from Cumbria who has a lot to learn yet ;>)

Home time.. how did you keep this car so clean?

Bloody Traffic jam and we haven't even left the park yet

Now I am back home, I have a big cleaning job to do on the 34 and a couple of minor tweaks.. and it will be time for Billing before ya know it. I met some great people again, Reggie with the Black B Truck was one and Andy his Mate was another. Reggie is 62 and still has the enthusiasm of a teenager enjoys the scene, enjoys the life an inspiration. I had a great crack with them Saturday Night.

Neil's Springnats was a good meeting  for sure ,but not a great meeting which it always has been before. It was a major disappointment, though it was purely down to the amount of Rods and the weather. Where was Yoda he was one notable missing Rodder, I am sure there was more.. Hey make it a good one next year eh! Seeya at Billing

Footnote: All the Hey Holmsey are you putting some weight on had been a wind up, Pudzz the git had got a few of the guys to say that to me when ever they saw me to get me a complex and it damn well worked Git...... Git's .. Ha Ha
