Head Down Arse Up
Well it is now the eve of the start of July, so what have I been up to, apart
from tearing my hair out??? Well in disgust at my stripped thread in the block, I got the brakes (Vented discs + 4 pot)
finally fitted.
I had to also get one new steering arm as one I had was
bent... Bloody Banger drivers ;o) I have the callipers and steering all on now..
though I have to sort the track rod end problem, the early rod ends don't fit far enough into the Metric later arms *hum?* why me??? I had quite a
discussion a while back with one very respected Rod Builder who assured me that
if my hub carriers were indeed metric, then some bugger had drilled and
taped them, as Jag never used metric thread??? When I ordered a new arm from
Ward Engineering.... the guy said ahh the one you need is metric....
* I thank
you* finally proof I was not having my self on!! Still don't make my track rod
fit properly though ;o)

Block sprayed and looking good, surprising what a lick of paint can do and a
wire
brushing of the old gearbox eh Just messing, I fitted the Mountney wheel, polished ally with leather rim only £60ish inc Boss, I may drop it down some more yet.. depends if I drop the
seat or not... At least I can sit in the seat and go brum brum now... Oh yeah
the short throw shifter is perfect, makes for some real nice gear
changes.. Servo is fitted, I had to lengthen the push rod to pedalthough
because of the extra thickness of the strengthened bulk head and works ace!!
July

Well me new header pipes arrived from www.jegs.com
I ordered em Tuesday got em Friday. I probably could of got the block huggers to
work but the tight twists to clear everything, would of strangled the motor and
they would never of matched up right with the rest of the system I had...
The Holley Flow Tech headers look way cooler anyway don't they, once the welds are tidied up a bit and they
are coated in Kermakrome they will look proper duzy ;o)
The exhaust was another saga.. I don't know if its just me
because I have no concept of what I am really doing and have no plan, or this
shit happens to everyone, or would of happened even to the most experienced
builder doing the same job... but it sure is getting to me big style now ;o)
Steering looks like more fun... may need some jiggery pokery there to, when I
thought that was all sorted months ago... arghhhhhh
That's tomorrows task if I
lift the garage door, as I really have had enough.. but so much time invested
means I have to keep on...it feels like a damned prison sentence certainly no
fun that's for sure *feeling down*. Close to throwing the towel in!
July 7th
So I got the level and the dial gauge out they didn't entirely
agree?? So I had to lower the rear of the trans so the carb base was level
using just the level not the dial gauge as it was crap.. I cut the crossmember
out that the prop caught on, cut the exhaust I did last
night off to redo it all again.
I think the whole engine and trans will have to be moved
backwards, so the steering will have
more room.... I then got pissed off and shut the garage door..
I am off to Wet
and Wild this Sunday and off to Benidorm Wednesday so no garage time for me, for at
least 12 days Hooray!!! Drive it like ya hate it ohhh boy you bet ya cus I
really do hate it!!!!!
