Dont Stop me now ! Or May the 4th be with you ;o)

Yeah its May the 4th 2008 and my stomach is churning with excitement with a tad of trepidation.
I can see what the finished article is going to look like now and it blows me away,
I truthfully did not believe it was ever possible for me to create and achieve such a cool looking Ride.
Yes it is not perfect I can find many faults and so will many others but the over all effect is stuning and I do hope others find it the same. But anyway that aint what this is about, so here is the recent progress, well today's progress last page was last nights progress.

I was supposed to go on a Bike Ride out today with a few biker mates and my
brother in law who has just bought a new bike. I really wanted to build up my truck
bed, so I hoped it would piss down (not nice for the guys doing the ride but an excuse
for me to be in the garage) my miss's was hung over so I would have no hassle for being
in the garage all day ;o) By 8am I was in there weighing the job up as it was pissing down.
The rear panel looked good, so I could start the build happy.

Here are all the Bed goodies wrapped up like santa had been, it proper felt like that to.

First unwrapped was the front panel that Steve had finish sanded and polished.
it also looked good... I wont say perfect as none of it is but its cool and looks the part.

I had forgotten how to esemble the bed, so just started real slow. I sanded the two outer
Oak boards and tried to polish them to a luster, with some wood wax... and polish
all I could they refused to shine? I had put 1 light coat of yacht varnish on and
2 heavy coats so did expect it to shine like a nun's but no they are quite dull,
so I need to get some expert advice. I just hope they don't say they need to be
varnished as it wont go over wax eh! Oh well undeterred, I polished a load of bolts
and the bed strips, I have never polished so much on my own since being a teenager ;o)..

I copper creased the rear panel where the sides fit as they were real tight even before
paint I worried they would be a problem. But slid on a treat, I had to recruit my afore
mentioned hung over wife to help me fit the sides, with a slight hesitancy they were finally fitted and a little struggling on my own with the rest it was looking great and I stood back.

WoW and a tear welled up in my eyes and legs ;o) fuk finally it was looking like a truck again.
All the hassle heart ache and nightmare sleepless nights seemed to fade away.
It is times like this I wish I still smoked as how satisfying would it be to just stand back and
peruse it while chuffing on a smoke ahhhhhh..

Man I love this view, cant wait to get the Caddy lights in and working and the bed wood *shiny* etc etc....
ahhhh still loads to do. The Truck is at the stage I wanted to be at by the end of Feb, to be on
schedule to debuted at Drayton Manor or Billing. Now looks like I may struggle to finish for
Billing in 4 weeks.. But I will keep at it and keep my fingers crossed.

I include this photo for no other reason than I like it ;o) well I am enjoying a few cans of Stella
on this wet bank holiday Sunday (Super Sunday) while everyone I know is out on the town on the razzle as there is no work tomorrow. xx
