Charge of the light brigade Page 14Or maybe it should be titled how not to French caddy lights. I really have no experience of this job in any way shape or form. I asked on the ukhotrods e-mail group and the response wasn't definitive, but I got some ideas... but of course I had to do it my way.. which was wrong as it happened, but they are in now, they do work and they will look ok. I have made myself a lot more work though, by not cutting the pipe used for the light mountings long enough.
The basic idea is to cut two lengths of pipe that the lights will fit in mine was 84mm exhaust, weld the end caps in that the lights mount to. Then tack the two pieces together in the position you want the finished lights to be in. Then bolt some thread bar into the cap end and though an accurately drilled hole in the wing.. I didn't do that either as I couldn't see how to mark the hole so I did it the way you see below.
Just a foot note the Truck has dropped some more and now so low it looks so so cool... but no suspension travel to speak of.. well 1 inch to the bump stops.. would soon stop being fun on our bumpy roads... so I have got some std Jag springs now.. to try.. oooow my favourite job fitting Jag front coils.. I cant wait ;o) Page 15 |
