Just Fanning about!
I was so so tempted to just stick some fluid in the Brakes system and go for a blast now the Truck was a driver... after some strict advice (don't be a prat) from someone I have the utmost respect for, I didnt... ;o)
instead I got on with jobs that really needed doing, like finishing the double fan shroud fitting and the floor in the cab needed mucho work after my chopping session.. So thats what I have been on with, I work so slow it is embarrassing, The Rad fans have taken 24hrs to do and they still need finishing and painting... Sheeeet good job I am not trying to make a living at this eh. That will be one thousand pound please for the fan shroud Ha Ha.. yeah right!!
The cab floor was one of those jobs I thought would be a doddle, so much of a doddle I would find it boring and I really just didnt feel like doing it at all. But it kept staring me in the face... so the thing cant be painted until its done so thats is what I had to do... 8hrs later this is all I achieved... Harder (for me) than it looks. I know I know there are probably 20 different ways than what I have done to get the same result, or better, that would of only taken a few minutes to do. But this is how I did it with what little material I had.
I looked at the job, looked at what I had and a plan evolved.. be it good, be it bad it was my plan for my truck. I did feel like I was Billie Lane, after watching my favourite TV Program The Great Biker Build Off, as I cut the original tunnel cover in half, even though it was with a jigsaw not a band saw as I would love! Then I cut an piece of exhaust pipe in 4 so I had 4 quarter moon shapes. I welded one on either section of tunnel cover and the plan was taking fruition.
I dont know what it was about working on the cab, but I really felt depressed, that hollow gut feeling, that real sad mood, with my bottom lip stuck out, sighing all the time and every second was a chore... and to cap it all my Jigsaw broke mid cutting... arent some make of tools absolute crap these days.. My old Bosch one lasted for years and years, until my Miss's ran over it, otherwise it would still be working I bet.. ;o) I really want to get this sucker into paint now, I just wanna thrash it to within an inch of its life... ;o) So the sentence stretches on before me, with no end in sight.............. *depressed* So to get me out of my depression I sat had a coffee and just stared at my wheels and tyres ahhhhhhh that's better ;o)
Well spent Sunday in a mood and suffering from a bad hang-over, while doing the centre trans tunnel and gear gaiter.
February 1 step forward 3 back!I am still being told my anti-climb bars are not right, I am understanding more now what people mean. I thought they were to purely stop the diff nose wanting to rise.... ooohhh nooooo. Their main function is to take the strain from the top bolts, as in the Jag the diff is held firm by a cage, the bolts just secure the diff, now in the way we mount them, they are taking all the weight of the diff, which is considerable, they are also having to cope with the constant twist and turn the drive train exerts on them... *hum?*. Well if that aint enough, the truck sat at the height I wanted it to, now had the bottom arms angle upwards... not nice to look at and not ideal either. The ideal is level bottom arms at ride height?? So what did I do? I cut the freaking diff mount plate out and I am starting again, I have raised the plate to the top, but as you can see from the photo this has raised the truck at the rear to much.. so somewhere in between will be ideal.
Also I wanted to see what a lowered seat would look like, so I put in an old XR3 seat I had in the garage, as a guide to what a low seat would look like. Last time I lowered the truck seat, my miss's pissed her self laughing, saying I looked like a right twat sat that low ;o)... This seat is low, and I think it looks Cool.. so a coat of Truck bench seat lowering is on the card to.... mind you... I may have to drop the steering wheel to match.. *groan*... one day I will make some progress.. I hope!! Mind you looking at the photo, the rear wings look like they aren't sat square or low enough either? looking at the running board angle?, they look like the original bolts on the bed sides, but maybe they are replacement ones and were drilled wrong?, they look welded in place.. ahhhh more work.. I never noticed when it was a beater ;o) I hate Cars!! Oh yeah I have a working Handbrake so some progress ;o)
